St Dunstan’s School Student Council
The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organising and carrying out school activities and serving the community. Students will organise and deliver events that foster school spirit and community welfare. They will be the voice of the student body. The school council will work closely with the Assistant Headteacher of Personal Development and the School Chaplain to champion the TRACK values to prospective students and guardians, and to the wider community.
Members of the Student Council will showcase the very best of St Dunstan’s community spirit and run public facing events such as opening evenings and celebration assemblies. The students will also conduct themselves professionally at outreach and charity focused events within and outside school. The student council will learn valuable skills and be exposed to new learning opportunities as well as enhancing the visible profile of the school within Glastonbury.
St Dunstan’s Student Council is currently made of the Y11 student Leadership Team. The council will be looking to expand in January ‘25 by recruiting two ambassadors from each tutor group.

2024 - 2025 Y7 - Y10 student ambassadors:
The student ambassadors join the Y11 leaders once a month for student council. In the meetings, students meet with the Head of KS4 and the Assistant Headteacher for Safeguarding & Personal Development to discuss behaviour, teaching & learning, safeguarding & personal development, the curriculum and any other arising matters. Students will need to be confident in sharing their opinions and being solution focused. Students are expected to feed the meeting minutes and the “We said, You did” back to their tutor groups during their British Values tutor programme. Students must be organised, proactive and efficient to ensure their prompt and timely arrival to register at tutor and begin student council.
